Coach Chellevold enters his 14th year as the head coach of the girls cross country team. Prior to coaching at Memorial, Paul spent three seasons at Madison East High School and one season at Omro High School. Paul began running in sixth grade and has been doing it ever since. In only his second year (7th grader), Paul ran a 4:56 mile and still holds middle school and high school records in the 800 meter runs and 3200 Meter Relay. Paul qualified for the WIAA State Track Meet three years and In his Senior year of high school, placed in the top 6 at state in the 1600 meter, 800 meter runs, and 1600 meter relay. Paul continued his academic and running career at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. There he was named as an Academic-All American and an All-Conference selection in cross country. He was team captain of the 2000 NCAA National third-place team. Paul was a four-time conference champion and an All-American in indoor track, with numerous top ten national finishes. Paul still holds the fourth fastest 3,000 meter steeplechase time at UWO (9:04.40), and holds the facility record at UW-Eau Claire Simpson Field in that event. As an old man, Paul has run several other major events. He has completed several marathons including Boston, Chicago, and New York City with a PR of 2:44. Paul even completed an indoor marathon at the Petit Center running around the Olympic ice oval 94+ times. Paul is married to his wife Sara, and has three daughters, Olivia (13), Addison (11), Delaney (6), and has two golden doodles (Vinny and Dekker). Coach Katie Kornaus enters her sixth season in the Madison Memorial cross country program and just completed her fifth season as the head distance coach for the girls' track team at JMM. Katie currently teaches Spanish at Edgewood High School in Madison. She also works part time as a Spanish and Portuguese translator for the Douglas Stewart Company, and as a sales associate at Erik's bike shop in Madison. Katie ran cross country and track at Augustana College in Rock Island, Illinois. In high school, college, and beyond, Katie has competed in every running event on the track from 100m - 10,000 meters. She has run several marathons and half-marathons, but prefers the middle distance track events. Katie is very into fitness and running as her 5,000 meter personal record of 19:28 was just set in 2018. When Katie isn't running or coaching, Katie enjoys cycling on Madison's bike trails, going to NASCAR races, and traveling with her former high school teammates. Katie's boyfriend Dave, is an assistant JV boys' basketball coach at Madison Memorial. |
Assistant Coach - Brian Genskow - 6th Year

Coach Brian Genskow enters his sixth year of coaching as part of the Madison Memorial girls cross country program. Brian competed in track in high school were he was a state medalist in the 3200 m relay. After college, the running bug bit, and he has since competed in multiple 10k's, half marathons, and a marathon. Outside of coaching, Brian works as a Civil Engineer at SRF Consulting Group, Inc. |
